Seeds Of faith post

Photobucket

This is the season to be thankful. With Thanksgiving done and Christmas on the way, i find myself trying to teach my children the real meaning of it all. I can see that the social world has played a big part in what they think its all about. So it was time to take a lesson in Thanksgiving and we will do the same for Christmas.

We started a new tradition with the children the night before. Explaining the reason for Thanksgiving, what started it all, how God plays a part in it and how to truly be thankful.
We learned about the Pilgrims, Squanto, harvesting and Plymouth rock. We learned verses that talked about being thankful and how important it is to tell God thanks everyday. We read a book all about prayer called, My Thanksgiving Prayer. Learning how family's pray and letting the kids learn a way all for themselves was special. I think the best thing of it all was seeing verses that spoke about thankfulness.

Some of the verses we learned were;
Colossians 3:15 (NAS)And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.
*being thankful for having Christ a part of your life is number one.*

Colossians 4:2 (NAS)Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NAS)
in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.Knowing Christ and making him apart of our lives has made such a difference. Knowing the true meaning about Thanksgiving made it even more splendid. I hope you all had a wonderful blessed Holiday. From my family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!!

Joovy Review

Joovy is one of the leading stoller companies around. With durable, sturdy constructive stroller that are beyond comfortable for children to ride in, Joovy is the choice to go with.

Caboose Ultralight
I thought this would be a perfect fit for my family of four little ones.
After speaking with a Joovy rep. i was able to get all
the information i needed to know that this is for me.
With a new 3 postion recline and large bottom storage basket
with pockets, the Caboose Ultralight was my first pick.
The caboose Ultralight offers a five point harness
for you front rider, which you can also sit a baby seat.
The tray is removable and carseat adaptable.
Whatever the age comfortable seating will not be an issue!!

Easy to get to and from where ever you need it. Easy to fold
and store in the back of your car.
I found the two finger closer and one hand opening a
pleasure when trying to keep an eye on my children!!

My family is super excited about this stroller and is
beyond happy about the ease it has brought us when
we have our family outings. We took this to
church and let me tell you it made being there a
little more simply. My son was a little fussy and
was able to nap right there with me with
out interrupting the sermon.

My ABC's of Thanksgiving

Family arrived safe and it was time to put the kids down to sleep. We had a little lesson on what Thanksgiving is all about and why we celebrate it. We talked about how to be thankful and why we should be. We read My Thanksgiving Prayer ( a really cute book) and sent the kids of to bed. It gave me a really different outlook on what to be thankful for this year. These are my ABC's of Thanksgiving. I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving enjoying all that you have been blessed with.

ABC's of Thanksgiving:

A- Apple pies, homemade and warm with yummy ice cream on top. The sent it brings to the house and the warmth of cuddling with my hubs as we watch a movie. The smile he has on his face when he walks in from work and smells it.

B- Biscuits with lots of butter. They make a meal complete and truly are the simplest thing to make for Thanksgiving.

C- Creativity behind all the planning it takes to pull off a stress free Thanksgiving. With my family and the inlaws, having a creative plan always makes things smooth.

D- Delicious smells through out my home due to all the yummy mouth watering things i prepared for my family.

E- Excitement. My kids think that Thanksgiving is like another Christmas and count down the days till we get to have turkey day. The know that Grandpa Fernando's birthday is two days after so they are excited to celebrate all about being thankful about him.

F- Family. Everything they bring to the table and the blessings of being around them on such a faith filled day. And of course football. My cowboys play on Thanksgiving so it makes it more enjoyable.

G- Green Bean casserole. While it is very simple to make we seem to only eat it on Thanksgiving. So i am thankful for this day if only to eat my Green Bean casserole.

H- Hugs. I seem to get a million hugs on this day. Why i couldnt tell you but i enjoy each one and the warmth they bring to my heart.

I- Importance. The importance to remember the true meaning of this day and to remember it is not about food but to be thankful for where it came from.

J- Jello. Besides birthdays its the only day i make jello. Even then i think i have only made it twice. So the kids love when i do make it.

K- Kindness. it seems as thought others take more time to be kinder to people on Thanksgiving or the Holiday season all together. Kindness is what makes a person. Without it you can lose yourself.

L- Leftovers. Yes i cook Thanksgiving dinner just for the leftovers. Dont you ??

M- Memories. I met my hubs family on Thanksgiving 8 years ago. I couldnt feel more apart of a family as i do with this one.

N- Naps. Everyone tends to sleep after eating turkey. We in our house call it turkeyites.

O- Ovens. not having enough and wishing i had more. But thankful that the one i have works.

P- Pumpkin pies. They are simply yummy.

Q- Quaker oat meal. Because it is one of the only breakfast that you cant add turkey to.

R- Rest. being able to rest after it is all said and done with. Because after cooking for 7+ hours i am ready for it.

S- Supper. sitting at a table with my family saying grace and knowing we will have yummy food is something to look forward to.

T- Turkey.Besides Christmas,Thanksgiving is the only day i cook turkey and it really is yummy.

U- Up side down pineapple cake. Its yummy and i am still holding out hope that i might get some this year.

V- Values. Being able to install the values that we want our children to learn.

W- Winter. That is what comes after Thanksgiving and i am a fan of the cold.

X- i have nothing for x. All of my x really start with E's . Excitement and encouragement are just two to name.

Y- Youth. The youth of what my children bring to the celebration of Thanksgiving. The say thanks for everything under the sun including their socks.

and

Z- Zippers and Buttons. They make more room for more when properly used.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

John Lennon once wrote, "Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans." For three men entering the second act of their lives, those words are starting to hit home in TNT's newest original series, MEN OF A CERTAIN AGE. This wry drama stars Emmy® winner Ray Romano (Everybody Loves Raymond), Golden Globe® winner Scott Bakula (Quantum Leap, Star Trek: Enterprise) and Emmy winner Andre Braugher (Homicide: Life on the Street, TNT's Salem's Lot). It marks a return to series television for Romano, who created MEN OF A CERTAIN AGE with Everybody Loves Raymond Emmy winner Mike Royce. The two serve as executive producers, along with Rory Rosegarten and Cary Hoffman.

MEN OF A CERTAIN AGE explores the unique bonds of male friendship among three men experiencing the changes and challenges of mid-life. They have been best friends since college but now, in their 40s, are navigating through the second act of their lives. Joe (Romano) is a friendly, slightly neurotic, recently separated father of two who had dreams of being a professional golfer. Now he owns and runs a party store. Terry (Bakula) is a laid-back, handsome actor who seems to breeze through life (and women). Lately, he's spending more time working as a temp than as an actor. And Owen (Braugher) is an overstressed husband and father of three who endures constant criticism from his father, for whom he works as a car salesman.

These friends face very different challenges. Joe, who currently lives in a hotel, tries to connect with his kids and is dipping his toe in the dating pool, while also struggling with the gambling problem that may have ended his marriage. The unmarried Terry scoffs at domestic issues but sometimes wonders if his own single life is all it's cracked up to be. Owen does everything he can to climb the sales board at his father's car dealership and keep his cool over the seemingly endless renovation project in the home he can barely afford. Through it all, these men are there for each other when it counts.

Education- and its frustrations

In California i was in school to become a teacher and taught preschool for a little while. Coming to Vegas there really isnt a need ( in the Gov. eyes) for preschool so i no longer teach outside of my home. I am a big believer in Home school. Being married though is a compromise in every way and how we parent is not any different. My hubs is a big believe in the public school system. Honestly i was okay with that because i knew i would be an involved parent. Now we come full circle to present day and my frustrations as they are now.

April had been home schooled for three years before starting public school. She went into kinder about a year ahead with the exception of reading. In Kinder we had an exceptional teacher who taught April a tremendous amount of things. Leaving kinder April was just below a 2nd grade level. I did not get the teacher i wanted but decided that i would give this teacher a go and continue to help in the school.

Well three months in the school year and i am ready to pull her out. I am not sure why a student who comes into a class and is ahead of what you are teaching can fall behind. Simply because that student is not being challenged. April is a straight A student but in 16 days she dropped 10 % in her grades. The teacher had to answer for this. Only that some assignments were worth more then others have been. April has not missed an assignment nor has she got anything less then basically a perfect score on them.

With this frustration and seeing her homework packets dwindle in size as the weeks go on i came to a boiling point. The hubs is supper supportive and was behind me 100% yet i need to talk to someone who knows what i am feeling. I was talked down to a reasonable state of mind and came to the conclusion i cant pull April out because she will shut down. I can admit i have been lazy when it comes to doing school work and adding my own lesson plan to what she is given at school. But at the same point i dont feel i should have to teach at home if she is at school 7 hours out of her day.

So i spoke with the teacher this morning and let her know simply that i appreciate how hard her job is and i love the children in her class very much( i worked with half of them for over a year) but that i am an advocate for Aprils education and it the way its going now and what she is given for homework is not suitable. I asked for a copy of a few things that i found out last night i could get and i am hoping this will change things.

I am still stuck in a place where i dont want to work with this teacher and that i want April to have a chance to move somewhere else within the school ....

Frustration can do a lot of things to you ... but i am learning that with prayer a clearer mind can be put in front of you.

It's the 1980s, and four freshman have just arrived on campus, ready to take on college life. ..its beginning to look a lot like Chrismas

Yesterday was a stormy windy day here in Vegas. As i woke up to get ready to intentionally plan, i could not see a thing besides clouds out of my window. I knew to bundle up but never thought i would still be so cold. That is when you know what type of winter it will be. Heading out the door i noticed a beautiful rainbow over our mountains that seem to continuously grow as the morning progressed.

( outside of denny's as the ski cleared for a few
moments i caught the rainbow on my phone)

Looking at this beautiful creation of God it just started off my day wonderfully even with the cold. I step out side to go home and it snowed right on top of me. Nothing big but enough to let me know Christmas is right around the corner. We headed to church and had a wonderful teaching about LOVE. What my pastor had to say was something that has never crossed my mind but will be there from this day forward. Its not an emotion it is an action that we have total control over giving to everyone.

Today i pulled together my Christmas decor (well some of it) and i am pulling out my holiday planner and getting on top of that. All i know is i want my tree up and i want to be listening to Frosty the Snowman. My presents are wrapped, my menu is planned, cookies are waiting to be baked and the family is looking forward to hanging our stockings. A Christmas in our first home as a family is something we have looked forward to. We also look forward to heading to the mountains in the next few weeks to play in the snow. Its wonderful having it 20 mins away from our home.

So to you all im wishing you a happy holiday season and would love to her what your doing for your holiday season. Leave me a comment and tell me all about it.

The Closer Season 6 Giveaway

Winner is:
Kelly Good at
findingjoyinvegas.blogspot.com

closer, Kyra Sedgwick, tntcloser, Kyra Sedgwick, tntcloser, Kyra Sedgwick, tnt

As the new season of THE CLOSER opens, the squad is moving into its new high-tech digs. But its not long before they're wishing they could be back in their old space, where a plain white board nailed to the wall was more practical than the troublesome sliding screens in their new murder room. But true to form, Brenda is determined to bend the space to her style.

With the LAPD on the hunt for a new chief of police, Assistant Police Chief Will Pope (Simmons) is among those in the running. Should he get the job, it could mean a promotion for Brenda. The political juggling around the office soon leads Brenda to do some career-minded soul-searching. It also has her colleague, Robbery-Homicide Commander Taylor (Gossett), smelling a possible promotion for himself, even though he cant even seem to wrangle an office of his own in the new facility.

On the home front, Brenda's husband, FBI Agent Fritz Howard (Tenney), has some career changes of his own in store. After turning down a promotion that would have sent him to Washington, D.C., he's now in line for a job that could not only keep him in LA, but give him and Brenda the chance to spend a lot more time together.

This season, Brenda and her squad will tackle cases involving a sniper shooting in a posh neighborhood, a possible serial rapist who uses a stun gun to immobilize his victims and a drug-related custody battle that ends in two deaths. Meanwhile, Detective Sanchez (Cruz) will struggle to care for a young boy involved in a case the squad investigated last year. And Lt. Provenza (Bailey), Brenda's second-in-command, will once again find himself in a professionally embarrassing situation when a one-night stand with a flight attendant leads to the discovery of a dead body in her bathtub.

Also this season, Mary McDonnell (Battlestar Galactica) will reprise her role as Capt. Raydor, the by-the-book head of the Force Investigation Division, who has butted heads with Brenda on several occasions. This time, her presence could have major implications for Brenda's future in the department.

A moment as me and not mommy

I have this moment far and few in between, but i have it. Do you ever sit and think while its quiet or your alone what life was like before children? Do you ever take that trip down memory lane, bask in the what could have been's ? I do sometimes and let me say this before anything else... I would rather be no where else then where i am at this very moment.

Before i met my hubs i was in school triple majoring in ECE, working two jobs, finishing high school and singing on the side (all at 18). When we got serious a few things dwindled off not because they had to but because my time and wants changed. I stopped singing early in the relationship due to not wanting to be what they wanted me to be, a sex object. I left school just short of graduating with my triple major (meaning a semester or two) because i was pregnant and super sick, and i no longer worked unless i found something i enjoyed because he wanted to take care of me(a first in my life). So i sometimes wonder what if?

What would have happened if i would have released the CD i was working on? What if i would have continued in school, publish the book of poetry i was working on or any of the other million and one things i was doing. When i jump back into reality and look at any one of my blessing I'm astonished with my self for even thinking about the what if's. I remind myself how much trouble some of those what if's got me into. Then i get to that thankful mind frame.

Point is you are nothing less then what you are at this moment. Not what you could have been or what you dream to become. I have to remind myself of that sometimes, that i am just as important in this world and a gold selling artist, award winning teacher or what ever else i would have wish to become.

So in those moments that i have i smile at the thought of what once was, compared to what i have now. I have four beautiful sanity sucking handfuls that i love so very much, a 8 year marriage that is all a girl could ask for and that stay-at-home mom/homemaker lifestyle i always dreamed of. Some times you can still lose yourself in it all and that is when you have to pull back and just remember who you are. With out the children and the husband. What accomplishments you have achieved and what you have made of yourself.
Show all
That is where i am at right know. Learning to accept my accomplishments for what they are and pat myself on the back. To relish in what i have become and understand its equal to everything i can at times hold above what i do on a day to day.

So i say now and i say it just this simple: I Am Proud Of Me!!!

Christian Book Review

A Word To The End Times Church by Georgie Newman is a thought filled book. Being a Christian for over 30 years, Georgie she has been called to be a mouthpiece, sharing her intensive training with us all through her writing. This book is written for the hungry, those who seek knowledge. Written for those who desire to strengthen their relationship or begin a relationship with Jesus. This book is meant for those to dive in and learn the Word of Jesus for themselves instead of listening to others.

When i received this book along with another, Midnight Rising Warning Signs For This Generation By Anderson Simpson, i was excited to get reading. The church i attend is doing a school of bible and its all about end times. I thought these books would be great to dive into and enrich my self with information. I found the book to be well written and filled to the brim with tons of information. The chapters were broken down just right to separate the information i was taken in so it wasn't to much at once. I loved how the book ended. It asked if you were ready to accept Christ if you have yet to do so. I thought that the invitation given was a great add to the book. Great read for anyone is interested in learning about the end times.

Oliver's Labels Review

Oliver's Labels are great different sized labels made
for many different uses. Everything from bottle labels
all the way down to labels for your
preschoolers shoes. Oliver's Labels
were first created for one of the
company's creators nephew. seeing the need,
it became a fast
growing business. Using Found-it
tracking system not only sets
Oliver's Labels as one of the best but as well as one of the
leading company's in their field.

Not only are these labels beautiful but they are made of high
quality, water proof and scuff proof material. I was able to get labels for both of
my youngest two. They made church, play dates and doctor
appointments much easier. Being able to use these labels on everything
from my children bottles all the way down
to my children shoes, made all of my outing's even more enjoyable.
Not having to waste time figuring out who's is who's
got us going through our busy days.

~For The Love Of 4~

I'm Claudia from For The Love Of 4. My blog is filled with funny stories, loving moments and great reviews. I am a mother to 4 wonderfully blessed sanity suckers and a wife to my hubs of 8 years. Stop by take a look and say hello.

A study within a study

Yesterday i went to a bible study, not knowing what they were studying or how long it had been going on for. Most of those who attend anything church wise i know from softball so the comfort level i knew wouldn't be an issue. We walk in to a yummy smelling house, a welcome hello and an at home feeling.

Can we say Thanks Giving?!?!?!? Before study began our host had a Thanks Giving spread for us all. We were some of the first people there and were able to talk with our newest friends about many things. Others showed up and it was just like we were old high school friends getting together for dinner.

We all sit and the study beings. I felt a little uneasy because i am one of those people who take notes, read and write every little tidbit down. Believe it or not, i was able to jump in right along with them all. My hubs even felt comfortable to jump in as well. We all didn't feel nor think the same, yet we all respected each other. It was nice to be spoken to and not at. Others looking into each others eyes when speaking and at times when called for smiling, laughing and joking around even during a serious discussion.

I came to learn about more of the bible, as that is so very important to me. I left with just that but as well knowing a few things about each person who attended. I usually feel like i always over speak people or that i talk way to much to begin with. But not this time. I could genuinely feel that they cared to hear what i had to say and enjoyed having an answer or opinion for me and in turn felt the same when i said something to what they had spoken about.

It seems with each meeting with these new people who have been placed in my life that i belong more and more. I know i can be a little much at times but they seem to handle that very well.

AND I MUST SAY THE FOOD WAS YUMMY !!!!!
