Love Dare - Day 1 Love is Patient

Day 1: Love is patient
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient,
bearing with one another in love.
—Ephesians 4:2 NIV

Today's dare:
The first part of this dare is fairly simple. Although love is communicated in a number of ways, our words often reflect the condition of our heart. For the next day, resolve to demonstrate patience and to say nothing negative to your spouse at all. If the temptation arises, choose not to say anything. It’s better to hold your tongue than to say something you’ll regret

Sunday night we climbed into bed really late, grabbed our books and bibles, and began to read. Yup, the hubs is doing it with me. I am always hesitant when it comes to thinking things will go well. We each have our own books, we each have our own reasons why we are doing it. I started to read aloud, asking if we should just read separately. The  hubs said he wold follow along, do it together. So i read, diving right into the bible after getting the dare figured out.

Jumping to now, Tuesday morning. I went the whole day with almost saying not a thing negative. It is harder than one would think. The hubs doesn't do much wrong, and it is the friendship we are working on, so i thought for sure it would be simple. But negativity is so many different things. From over correcting, to nagging, even the tone in your voice. I found myself getting all huffy puffy about how he was feeding the dogs. Something that isn't even his chore. It took a second to realize that i was being just plain mean over something so small, but i was able to stop myself.

I know if i would have continued on my outburst, the good night we had watching one of my fav shows {Drop Dead Diva}, would have been ruined by meanness and negativity. I see now that the way we , i choose to handle something could potentially change the outcome of how a day goes. It is a challenge to keep working toward being positive.

I look forward to today's dare, Love is kind.
